生平简介
卡拉瓦乔（Caravaggio，1571—1610），本名米开朗基罗·梅里西，意大利巴洛克绘画的开创者，西方艺术史上最具传奇色彩的画家之一。他出生在米兰附近的小镇卡拉瓦乔，故以此为名。
他发明了震撼人心的"明暗对照法"：画面被浓重的黑暗包围，一束强光如舞台追光般照亮人物，使平凡的场景充满戏剧张力。更惊世骇俗的是，他让街头的小贩、乞丐、酒馆女郎直接扮演圣母与圣徒——宗教的神圣与市井的真实在他笔下融为一体。他的一生同样戏剧化：斗殴、逃亡、杀人、越狱，最终在流亡途中孤独死去，年仅38岁。
他的代表作《召唤圣马太》《圣马太殉难》《美杜莎》以强烈的情感冲击力影响了一整代欧洲画家，鲁本斯、伦勃朗、委拉斯凯兹都是他的追随者，史称"卡拉瓦乔主义者"。
